Indira Betancourt is a Venezuelan attorney with experience in corporate in-house counsel, contracting, and governance law. Born and raised in Venezuela, she immigrated to the United States in December 2016, driven by the hardship of witnessing her country’s economic and political decline and its global repercussions.

Ms. Betancourt began her legal career at Hidrolara, C.A., where she worked as an in-house attorney, handling complex legal matters as the Deputy Member of the Legal Department of the Procurement Commission and contributing to corporate governance. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the University of Carabobo School of Law in June 2011, receiving the “1st Award for Academic Excellence.” Building on her legal foundation, she obtained her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Banking, Corporate, and Finance Law from Fordham University School of Law in May 2024.

Her passion for justice and legal advocacy led her to volunteer with nonprofit organizations through Fordham Law School and the New York City Bar Association. Through her pro bono contributions, she has worked with marginalized communities and individuals facing legal challenges, further strengthening her commitment to creating positive change. In recognition of her dedication, she received the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award at the 32nd Annual Public Interest Resource Center.

Currently awaiting admission to the New York State Bar, Ms. Betancourt is eager to continue her legal career, specializing in transactional law, and to advocate for others while giving back to the community that welcomed her and advocating for those in need.
